How to make Kobe White Sauce

I love going to KOBE japanese steakhouse, and everytime I go there I always double up on white sauce. I finally decided to make my own. So after hours of searching different recipes and trying what everyone thought was the real white sauce…. I was about to give up. There were so many wrong ways on the internet to make this stuff. I had pretty much come to my last straw when I came across a gentleman at a local watering hole. I was explaing to him my recipe delema when he busted out laughing. I was puzzled as to why he was laughing at my agony… He then said “I used to be a chef at Kobe’s” How about that luck, I find the recipe right from the source. I bought him some beer and he gave me the recipe…. and I must say it is way better eating this white sauce from the house. Enjoy !

Ingredients:

1-1/4 cup Hellmann’s mayonnaise
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
a small pinch of cayenne pepper

Using a whisk, blend all ingredients together thoroughly until well mixed and the sauce has smoothed out. Refrigerate overnight to allow all of the flavors to blend. Bring to room temperature before serving.

BIG WARNING !!! The sauce will NOT taste right if you don’t let it sit overnight. And do not substitute ketchup for the tomato paste! The water is needed to bring this to the right consistency.

Make sure to use Hellmans mayonaise, all other brands will make the white sauce taste like mayonaise. Light mayonaise will ruin the flavor as well.
